I typically work with buyers. This is something I enjoy since it allows me to be a teacher and coach, which is what I was for my first 8 years out of college.

As the market is shifting due to increased interest rates, and buyers are having a little more success, here are some things that I have learned:

Key Lessons for Buyers

  • Be Patient: There are deals to be had, but they might not be available now.

  • Be Ready: The best deals are those when something falls out of contract, or before it hits the MLS.

  • Know your Market: The best way to know the market is to see everything. As a buyer's agent, I see everything; the clients who do best know the market and trust their instincts.

  • Be Open Minded: Be open to suggestions and perhaps thinking differently will lead you to an opportunity.

  • Develop Relationships Built on Trust: As an agent, I need buyers to trust that I am working in their best interest. When markets change, hopefully they will be ready to recognize the deals as they come.
